The purpose of two socks in Dances with wolves is to show how Dunbar is slowly getting close to his inner prairy side. Dunbar and Two socks relationship has slowly gotten more and more friendly as time has progressed. At first their relationship was hostile, then it became standoffish, and now its slowly getting even more friendlier.
